Margot and Evan immediately called the police after Oscar returned. They hoped that making everything about Oscar’s return official would help solve his disappearance. In an effort to begin piecing together Oscar’s final years, they completed reports and shared all of their knowledge. It signaled the start of a new phase in their search for answers and was a mixture of relief and anxiety.

The Officer’s Visit
An officer they knew stopped by their house to speak with Oscar. The officer was very understanding when Oscar remained silent, demonstrating his understanding of how difficult this must be for Oscar. He asked a few gentle questions, but he didn’t press Oscar when it became apparent that he wasn’t prepared to speak. Because of this generosity, Margot and Evan felt a little more optimistic about the road ahead.
