Joe Clark
Joe Clark was the principal at Paterson Eastside High School in Paterson, New Jersey. When he made serious efforts to improve school standards across the country, he received national recognition. Joe was the inspiration for Morgan Freeman’s film Lean On Me, released in 1989. He died on December 29th, at the age of 82, after a long illness. Joe died in Florida, surrounded by loved ones, according to his family’s statement.

Phil Niekro was a well-known Major League Baseball pitcher whose knuckleball earned him a spot in the Hall of Fame in 1997. He had been battling cancer for some time, but on December 26th, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at 81. Following his death, the Atlanta Braves issued a statement describing him as “a constant presence over the years, in our clubhouse, our alumni activities, and throughout Braves Country.”
